2024 Hall of Fame Inductees
Jane Kersjes
Jane Kersjes has been a member of the MWGA from 1986 to the present (38 years) and served on the Board as Membership Director from 2004 – 2009 (6 years). She supports and volunteers for the MWGA USGA-LPGA Girls Golf Program since 2007 to the present (17 years). She is a long time member of the WMGA and the AAWGA (current Treasurer). She was the first female Evans Scholar in Michigan and at MSU in 1973. She volunteers for several community services and received the Mercy Education Project “Spirit of Mercy” Award for Excellence in Volunteerism in 2023.
Susan Madej
Sue Madej is a long time member of the MWGA and served on the Board as Director of Publicity, Rules and 13 years as Handicap Director. She has also served on the Board of the WMGA since 2004 (20 years) as Director of Handicap and Rules, in addition to building and maintaining a website for the organization. Sue attended the USGA/PGA Rules School twice, achieving advanced certification in 2019. Sue’s focus has been ensuring golfers have an accurate handicap for events as well as assuring the rules of golf are followed, making the game fair and fun for all.
Jean Murray
Jean Murray is well known for her playing ability as well as her service to the game. She has won 10 MWGA State Championships and was the first GAM Women’s Senior Champion. She played in 7 Atlas Cups and was on the GAM Senior Honor Roll four times. She won the prestigious Spring Lake Invitational at the age of 70 after two hip replacements. She qualified and played in two US Senior Women’s Championships. She has been a GAM Governor and Rules Official since 2003 (21 years). She is a strong advocate for Senior Women’s Golf. The GAM Senior Women’s Amateur Championship Trophy is named after her. She was inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in 2023.
